Insulating Glass consists of two or more lites of Glass enclosed by a spacer. The most common insulating glass unit is constructed with two lites of Glass and one sealed air space. This configuration is also known as a dual pane or double pane insulating glass unit; however, it is commonly shortened to insulating Glass or IGU.
At Glasscope Production, insulating glass units are sealed with a primary seal and a secondary seal of silicone. Insulating units are designed to absorb stress on the unit caused by thermal expansion and pressure, provide a barrier to water and moisture infiltration, provide a gas-tight seal to prevent loss of any specialty gas fill, and create a barrier that reduces condensation.
In some countries, the standard to improve thermal insulation in buildings since a long is double insulation glass windows (popularly known as HR ++). The window is composed of two sheets of Glass connected airtight to each other with a spacer (usually made of aluminium - yet more and more in a more insulating "Warm edge" variant) at a certain optimized distance from each other.
